Hi Imogen, great talk about colour! To me colour is more important that cut, because the the wrong colour can make us look sick, something the wrong cut never can 🙂 However today’s questions touched some of the issues I have given a lot of thought over the years. I’m seeing myself leaning more and more towards monochromatic dressing, but NOT in neutrals. What I do to get a bit of contrast is either add some small accessory in a contrasting color, or work with lighter and darker shades of the same colour. When I wear an outfit in light coral pinks I might add a coral necklace in hot coral red. When I wear top to toe magenta I will add a large, bright yellow ring. With a teal outfit I will add a neon green ring and a lime green handbag. The point is that even within such a narrow spectrum of colours there is still an infinite amount of possibilities to create interest and contrast 😀 And if I am completely lost I will take a look at Crown Princess Mary!!!
Imogen,
Another color question. In the cold months, I have found that I can wear dark colored bottoms as navy, dark olive and dark brown all as neutrals, combined with lighter and slightly brighter accent colorful tops all interchangeable with the different bottoms, , but when I try to lower the values of the above 3 colored bottoms for wear in warmer months, translated into medium denim blue, darker sage green and tan , I find that I feel the need to treat them more as colors rather than neutrals, and combine the blues and sage with cool undertoned tops , and the tan with warmer colored tops. Why is that ?
