I recently joined Karen O’Connor of Menopause, Marriage and Motherhood, to record another podcast interview – this time we talked all about the power of colour and finding your perfect colours
It was recorded when I was on a short holiday with my husband and where we were staying the internet signal wasn’t strong, so we hopped in the car and found a good signal, my husband then hopped out and took the dogs for a nice long walk while I chatted with Karen.
The Science of Finding Your Perfect Colours
Colour is an endlessly fascinating topic for me. We live in a coloured world. We are surrounded by colours. Colours impact our moods. I always remember when I lived in England that whenever there was a sunny day with a nice blue sky (after many days of dreary grey clouds) just how much happier everyone at my work was. The energy changed.
There are so many fascinating studies about the psychology of colour and how each colour impacts us. How we feel about different colours and wearing colours too.
I think about colours similarly to how I think about music (I spent most of my childhood and into adulthood learning and playing the violin and viola in orchestras), when music is in tune, when all the instruments play together in harmony, something beautiful is created. When they are out of tune it is a much less pleasant experience. The same can be said for colours – when the colours you wear are in harmony and balance with your personal colouring (as colour is part of the electromagnetic spectrum and made up of waves – light waves, rather than sound waves) this makes you look more alive, more vibrant and gorgeous, whilst when you are wearing colours that are at odds with your personal colouring, it’s like listening to music that is out of tune (and I actually feel sick in my stomach – it can produce a physical response).
So why wouldn’t you want your clothes to be in harmony with you? The whole of you – your colouring, your body and your personality? In fact here are 9 ways knowing your best colours will change your life as well as your wardrobe.
