I was just over at The Space Between My Peers and there was a post about texture and drape of fabrics, where everyone was confused about whether or not these kinds of fabrics suited them. So I thought I’d try and clarify the issues.
There are a number of elements to fabric – texture, drape, sheen, pattern, dimension – and all need to be taken into consideration when being chosen for a garment.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – it’s all about HARMONY, yes I may bleat on about it all the time, but it’s the most important factor when choosing clothes.
We are looking for harmony in your colouring, your natural texture, your natural sheen, your natural pattern, your facial lines and features. Harmony with your hair, harmony with your personality…. the list goes on and on.
Harmony is beauty. Harmony is balanced. Harmony makes us feel secure.
So I shall go through each of these concepts one at a time to hopefully make them more understandable.
