Depending on your colour contrast (and you can find out how to discover yours here) and personality, you may want to add an accent colour to your outfit to make it pop.
So how do you add that extra colour so it makes the outfit look cohesive, rather than as a random element?
It’s as easy as 1 -2 -3!
The easiest way is to repeat the colour up to 2-3 times in accessories.
If it’s a colour like red, you can add it as your lipstick or nail polish colour as well without it looking overdone.
In general, unless it’s a lipstick, don’t add more than 3 elements of the accent colour.
Think about collecting “beauty bundles” of accessories that you can wear together to create that pop of colour, interest and detail.
Hi, Imogen. I really LIKE this idea, But, is it too bright if I have Medium Colour Contrast with Low-Medium Value Contrast?…..thanks.
Your colours don’t have to be bright, with a medium colour contrast this will work well. Just don’t wear black and white (high value contrast) style accessories.
I wear a lot of black and gray and needed an accent color to give some umph. Just like your examples. I have red frames for my glasses. I wear red lipstick and I just added a red handbag. I also have several red scarves to add to the mix. Other than my lipstick that’s two or three. Red makes me feel better as well as looking better.
