Jill Chivers spent a year not shopping for clothes and accessories as she had come to realise she had a shopping addiction which was making her unhappy and affecting her wellbeing. In her hew book Shop your Wardrobe, Jill chronicles her year without clothes shopping and how out of it was born her program to help other over-shoppers (sometimes called Shopaholics) and some tips that can help you if you feel that you’re taking your shopping too far.
Jill and I got together on a rainy day that was affecting her internet, so she looks a little she’s in a like a badly dubbed movie, to chat about her new book, her journey, some of what she’s learned over the year of her shopping ban as well as in the 10 years that have passed since then.

Thanks ladies for addressing a topic that is so helpful for women to hear. Thank you Jill for sharing so openly and honestly and being so vulnerable and willing to give of your wisdom to help others learn and grow. And thank you Imogen for your excellent questions and comments also. I always enjoy when you two work together to bring information and inspiration to us. Thank you.
Thanks Rose!
Love this! Thank you for taking such a deep dive! Jill, your blog inspired me to do a shop-free year. I had previously done short shopping fasts, but a year was a new challenge. Every day I read a post or article from your website. Thank you for your example and brave heart to share. It’s amazing what you can learn about yourself when you take the time to pause and reflect, get intentional, and examine your actions and their drivers! I often suggest a three month shopping fast to new clients to challenge them to work with and explore what they already own. Now it’s off to Amazon to shop… For the book!
