This past week I’ve been in Thailand on holiday, so didn’t manage to take as many photos as usual, but here are a few of my Frocktober efforts.
Don’t forget that I’m raising money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation and would love, love, love you to make a small (or large) donation to help fund this vital cause.
Off to the pool – with a dress over a swimsuit
Poolside caftan glam – I made this caftan myself out of some silk chiffon.
This is a Boo Radley dress which I love, it has a cotton blue slip underneath the chiffon overlay.
I discovered that a maxi dress is a great way of keeping the mosquitoes from biting my legs!
Back home and pretty tired from the trip, so looking bleary eyed. Lovely hot day in Melbourne to get out a great another Boo Radley favourite (with a Verily slip dress underneath).
Today is my birthday (have some champagne for me, and if you want to give me present – please make a donation to my Frocktober fundraising efforts!). Â Today I’m wearing a white slip with a New Zealand brand George chiffon top over it.
Happy birthday, you look great
Happy birthday! Love, love, love your hair curly! I’ve just begun to wear mine curly again after 20 years and am really enjoying it. I highly recommend googling the Curly Girl Method, and Lorraine Masseyfor all sorts of excellent tips on making the most of your curls. 🙂
Takes me the better part of half an hour to curl my hair. It’s not natural
I love your blog. I’m getting ready to travel to Paris and am using your suggestions to help me feel Parisian before I go!
I have a question.
Do the rules of what is appropriate for a woman of a certain age – 55+ – apply to every woman that age? There are many boomers who have managed to stay fit and look not only good for their age, but great for any age. Do the rules manage the look to match the face?

Which rules are you thinking about breaking?
Well, I’m wondering about wearing a ribbed sweater tunic over black leggings with booties. My girl friend says it’s fine, that the length isn’t too short at just above mid-thigh. Because my husband commented on how great my legs look it causes me concern that I might be showing too much leg. I’m very athletic and have strong legs.
The ridiculous part of this for me is that just today I was at the theater and many women were wearing leggings with tunics and it seemed totally appropriate for them. Their tunics however were a bit longer, loose and flowing, not ribbed sweaters – not form fitting.
Maybe it’s an unsaid rule, but it sure seems like I shouldn’t flaunt my legs because they’re too unusual.
I’m thinking about purchasing a different tunic that would be longer.
I have a small chest so great legs makes up for it.
Thank you for your help.
I think if you’ve got great legs and you feel comfortable then wear it. Leggings are still covering your legs, just make sure they are not see through
Thank you!
Happy Birthday, Imogen! You look beautiful! When you can, please share with your fans what clothing items were hits or misses. I am considering a trip to various Asian countries and clothing tips are paramount.
Thank you and I hope you have a great day.
A faithful fan,
Pat
