Many of us get stuck wearing the same garments together, over and over, in the same outfits, without ever thinking about mixing them with other items to create new outfits.
So today’s challenge is to get you to take something from your wardrobe that you’ve had for at least 5 years and put it with something that is less than 6 months old. Ideally, I want you to create a new outfit that you’ve never tried before. FABruary is all about getting out of your old habits and trying new things.
Today I made myself put together an outfit I’ve never tried before. Normally I wear this Picasso top with jeans or slim pants, but today (it’s summer here and hot) I put it with a knit skirt that I made. The new is in the jewellery and shoes.
What did you put together today?
Today’s outfit tried to merge today’s with some of the other challenges. (Have had to miss a few days unfortunately).
Something old and something new: my boots date back to when I was 17, so are exactly a decade old (girly me back then fell in love with them due to the shiny patent stripe that runs at the back). The green blouse is new.
It’s a bit experimental for me to have a billowy blouse with that close-fitting, high-waisted black pencil skirt, feared that the outfit might look too boxy…?!
Today I didn’t manage to put any outfit together for FABruary challenge. Well, in a way I did, but I had gotten it a bit wrong (combined modern garments with something from an older era) and didn’t have time to blog about it. On the other hand, I don’t even have many clothes that would be older than 5 years, hardly even three. Those that I have are coats, shoes, sleeping-wear and some “gothic” evening pieces.
Better luck tomorrow! 😉
I had a big of a struggle with this one too, though I knew that my watch was definitely over 20 years old! I’m pretty certain that my green top is more than 5 years old, and I know that my necklace and shoes were bought within the last 6 months, so I guess I just about made it.
Imogen, that Picasso top is AMAZING! I’d love to own something as original as that.
I love your top! That is such a fun print. I wish I had something like it.
Thanks Heather. It was a lucky find!
