What is the secret to great style?
I believe true style, great style comes from within .It is a mixture of confidence ,charm and charisma. It is the self  knowledge and self belief that you project in every part of your life that is conveyed in your dress, your posture, your behaviour. A woman with great style is individual , generous , with a focused sense of self , who has the daring to be different and distinctive.

What is the one thing you would spend a lot of money on?
I spend a lot of money on accessories , but perhaps that is cheating as it encompasses a number of things. .Probably  handbags are the things I spend a lot on . I think that a great handbag is essential, and  should be  an  expression of your style personality

What is the one thing you wouldn’t spend a lot of money on?
I think you can buy good quality layering pieces that do not have to cost a fortune.

What are your top tips for looking stylish when travelling?

Wear clothes that are comfortable , but still look smart. A great jacket, a pashmina, stylish shoes/leather sneakers / stretch pants.Take track pants and a comfy top to change into if you are doing along haul flight and you are going to sleep on the plane.

What’s the secret to looking polished?

Attention to detail and good grooming. Before you go out , look in the mirror and check that you are “finished” You look well put together,  you have dressed with intention. All of your clothing  has been put on as part of a plan

How do you balance new trends with a more timeless look?
Depends whether or not the trend suits you.For example, I do not wear leggings, I think they do nothing for my thighs. But I wear slim pants if I am wearing a longer top. If the trend is in your style go for it , otherwise just keep the new trend to a small piece of your wardrobe .   Animal prints , like leopard are big at the moment . If you do it small , go for a  scarf or a belt which  shows that you are in the know, a coat means that you are a real  fan!!!!

What is your current obsession?
I  love boots. The boots this season, especially the ankle boots are great

The one piece of advice most women need but don’t get?

To believe in them selves .To stop focusing on the negatives and believe in the positives about their bodies and themselves.Everyone of us is unique and special, wear the belief

What’s the best piece of style wisdom you’ve ever received?
Listen to your gut instinct , it is how you feel in what you are dressed in  , not  what somebody tells you you look like .

What’s your favourite short cut to style?
 A great hair do

How would you describe your personal style?
Twisted classic? elegant chic/city chic .

Who are your style icons?
Audrey hepburn , Lauren Bacall., Helen Mirren , CarmenDiaz , Julia Roberts

  • I think her first look (the brown) is rather matronly compared to her second look in the jeans. It's funny how the same woman can encapsulate a wide spectrum of style. I agree with her about the positive thinking towards yourself. When I work with clients (I'm a stylist) I tell them to tell me what they like about the outfit, not what they don't like about it. It's human nature to go the negative and the more I can steer the focus away from that, the better our styling experience will be.
