It’s winter here in Australia and there are lots of faux fur vests around. They can be a tricky trend to wear as they add some bulk to your frame due to their highly textured nature. But if you feel the cold like me, they really do keep you warm and toasty.

- Wear over more form fitting clothing.
- Wear it over a slim column of colour (you want to make yourself look as long and lean as possible before your add the bulk of the fur.
3. If the vest is slightly shorter, then wear it with a similar colour underneath that’s a touch longer to elongate and negate some of the broadening effect

Thanks! It’s summer here, but this will come in handy in a few months. I like fur vests but always feel like they make me look like an oversize wooly mammoth.
Thanks for this Imogen, what length is most versatile, to wear with dressed and jeans?
Somewhere between your waist and hip – depends on your body proportions – around the hip bone or just slightly longer is the most versatile.
Fur (real or faux) does wonderful things to one’s complexion which compensate for any bulk! Not that it can really be measured, but I’ll trade off looking 5% fatter for looking 20% prettier. Something about the way the texture diffuses light – like walking around as an airbrushed version of oneself.
Hi Imogen, I have the same dramatic colourings as yourself and I have been admiring the coloured fur vests that you still wear today. This blog tells me how to wear a fur vest and now I would love to know where to shop for a few of my own for Autumn/Winter 2017. If you were to add more of these vests to your collection, where would you buy them from? Thank you so much for writing such an informative blog that is as relevant today as it was when you first started sharing your knowledge.
Mine have come from ebay
