I’ve spent weeks toying around with ideas for my Word of the Year for 2024, trying on different words for size to see if there was something that really resonated.
And then it came to me (whilst looking at the Thesaurus at another option that didn’t feel quite right), that my word should be…
Harmony
I bang on about harmony all the time in my colour and style consultations, doing image consultant training, and generally, because everything that aligns with you, that is in balance with you, your personality, your colouring, your body, your lifestyle, and location are in harmony.
As a former musician, I love harmony, it makes my body feel happy and relaxed.

When I see colour combinations that work together – both with each other, and the person who is wearing them,it makes me feel relaxed at a gut level. I always feel it at my core.
Harmony feels like it brings some ease (and I’d love some of that too), it brings quiet satisfaction rather than frustration and angst.
I already work hard (my husband thinks too hard), and so focusing on what creates harmony rather than doing for the sake of doing, is something that I think would be worthwhile for me.
I’ve spent 2023 cultivating some new skills (learned some watercolour painting, really started sewing again and getting some of my old skills back), cultivated relationships with new and old friends, as well as trying to cultivate the seeds that have been sewn in the past making incremental improvements to programs and courses.
I’d love to spend 2024 helping you find harmony with your own style (it’s personal for a reason), to find out who you are on the inside, and show you how to express it on the outside – in glorious harmony.
Finding Your Focus Word of the Year
If you’re still looking for your Word of the Year for 2024 here’s an inspirational list (of course there are so many more words than what’s on this but it’s a great place to start, then you can, like I did, move to the Thesaurus to find alternatives that maybe align even more with how you’re feeling about what you’d love more of in your life).
You could look at finding a word that’s one of your values, so that you make sure that you don’t stray from your best path. Or it could be setting a word as your intention for the year. There is no one right way of deciding on your word (or it could be a phrase if that floats your boat), do what feels right for you.

Happy New Year and thanks for this thought provoking blog post. Since reading it last night I’ve been pondering the concept and have realised how much better than a resolution a meaningful, all encompassing word could be. So what’s my word for 2024? Complete and/or completion, to keep in the forefront of my mind that I am complete and to be happy with the body I have at this stage of my life, my life in each moment is complete and to complete the things I start. I love ideas and possibilities, planning and starting projects, finishing them I’m not so good at! Generally my attention gets grabbed by another good idea!! So here’s to completion, including of ALL the EYS challenges and manifestos ✔️😊
Happy New Year!!
I was wondering… do extended shoulder line shirts like this work better for people with broad/square shoulders?

These tend to make shoulders look broader – as they extend past the natural shoulder line.
Thank you for your help! I’m an avid reader of your blog. I’d love to see a post of feminine or Romantic spring styles for women with broad/square shoulders! That’s been my biggest fashion challenge.
This time of year again! I love your word choice for this year – so much nuance. Last year I did one of those word searches and the three words that stand out first are the ones that are supposed to resonate. They were actually good guidelines for 2023, but on reflection really only two were acted upon consistently, so there was a need to narrow the focus for this year. I wanted something that ties together intention, focus, growth, purpose. My phrase for 2024 is “Onto it”.
Great word to really get things done!
