On Saturday I was invited to attend the David Jones Autumn Winter 2013 Fashion Parade at the newly opened Highpoint shopping centre in Melbourne’s West. Blogger Poppy Dinsey of What I Wore Today was over from the UK promoting the opening of the new fashion centre at Highpoint.
There will still be plenty of colour around this Autumn/Winter – so this is not the time to slip back into your basic black. Step out in a monochromatic palette and add a dash of colour to those cold grey winter days.
The trend for Denim on denim continues. If you lived through the 90s and did the double denim, probably best to avoid, unless you do it in different colours – such as the blue chambray and the white denim jeans. It’s just too easy to look trashy or dated if you’re not careful.
Skirts were super short, so short some of the models kept hitching them down as they strut down the catwalk. The way to wear them is with a nice thick opaque tight, particularly if you haven’t got the legs of a 16 year old! Not a work appropriate length, but great for a night out on the town.
Cropped pants continue to abound, a hard trend to wear if you don’t do it with a heel as they really shorten your legs. Jump suits also remain in fashion this Autumn/Winter, as do metallic and coloured jeans.
Trends shown here were all from labels stocked by David Jones.
FYI – Highpoint are giving away $1000 gift cards – if you want to find out more check out Poppy’s Pick.
