Leading up to the new year, I spend some time thinking about my “word of the year” or “focus word” that I will use as a guide to help me make decisions for the forthcoming year.
It’s much better than New Year resolutions which are mostly broken within the month of January. Instead by having a focus word I can use it as a guide to light the way to see my best path and to help push me out of my comfort zone.
Becoming More Visible in 2025
My 2025 word is Visibility and I can tell you that it scares me!
But it’s not just about me, it’s about you too.
I’ve learned that when you are more visible more opportunities come your way. When you feel good in your style you are more open to being visible as it gives you more confidence.
Women tell me all the time how they feel that when they have their style sorted out they feel more confident to stand up, speak up and be seen.
I want to help you feel more comfortable being more visible.
Visibility is good for both you and me!
As an introvert, visibility is not my natural habitat, which is why I need this as a word to help push me out of my comfort zone. It’s hard to believe it, but before I started making my regular Facebook Live videos (that end up here on the blog and on my podcast), I was scared of making live videos. I’d been thinking it would be a good thing to do for several years (I kid you not) before I finally took the plunge. Now 350+ videos later, I can’t see why I was so scared at the start, but of course, comfort zones expand as we try new things and step out of them!
Have You Got a Focus Word for 2025?
Here’s a list if you haven’t, and if you have I’d love you to share it with me and let me know why you chose it!
That is so true about visibility, and hope lots of great opportunities come your way this year.
“Vibrant” – living with enthusiasm and strength and energy.
Hi Imogen,
I love your posts on your word of the year and found myself anticipating this one. I was delighted to have it land in my inbox this morning. My 2024 word was ‘completion’ and I have to say setting that intention had a positive influence throughout the year.
It’s amazing how once I’ve given some focus to the ideas/plans that have been bubbling in the background, the word for the year presents itself with clarity. My word for 2025 is ‘purposeful’. From adding items to my wardrobe and deciding what to wear on a daily basis to my exercise and leisure time activities, I want my decisions to be purposeful. For me this will involve implementing the ‘power of the pause’ and making bite sized manageable lifestyle alterations rather than wholesale changes.
Thanks again for your insightful and motivating new years blog post.
Happy New Year
Linda
Great choice for both last year and this!
