Here is a fabulous, step by step tutorial on how to overdye your clothes from Sal at Already Pretty. I often recommend clients dye clothes so why not have a go. Just a tip before you dye, your garments need to have some natural fibres for over-dying to work. If it’s all synthetic, it won’t hold the colour. You will find that if it’s a mix of fibres you will get a much lighter version of the colour than if it’s 100% (or near) natural.
If you want more information about which fabric will dye, check out this information from RIT
While we’re on the DIY front, here are some instructions on how to hem pants.
If you’re in Vancouver, Canada, and are interested in interior design and colour, this is the course for you – Maria Killam from Colour Me Happy is running a course that sounds fabulous. I wish I could be there!

Thanks so much for the shout-out, Imogen!
I've had a few resounding successes with dye, and some spectacular flops- it is quite hard to predict. But since the item is faded or displeasing (or why would you dye it?), what have you got to lose?
I love those coat hooks but I know I'd trip and fall and poke my eye out with it!
I was so surprised to come over and see that you'd mentioned my course, thank you so much I so appreciate that!! xo Maria
Hi Imogen-Surprise! Please come visit my blog!
Nylon dyes beautifully; I've successfully dyed bras and slips. Great way to get matching sets!
